The People in Housing Awards Midlands  2026

Not many people can say they were there when history was made. But if you joined us, you were.

The People in Housing Awards brought the Midlands housing sector together and raised £7,500 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Hosted by Niyaa People, the People in Housing Awards brought together housing professionals, partners and teams from across the Midlands for a night of recognition, connection and celebration.

197 people attended from 50 organisations, all united by one shared purpose. Celebrating the people behind the homes and communities that make the Midlands stronger.

From housing associations and local authorities to contractors, support teams and community leaders, the event shone a light on the work happening across the sector and the people driving it forward every day.

The awards were delivered as a not-for-profit event, with all surplus funds, alongside money raised through the raffle on the night, donated to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

A Stronger Housing Community

The People in Housing Awards were created to bring the sector together.

Across housing, many organisations face similar challenges, from increasing demand to changing regulations and growing pressure on services. Too often, those challenges are faced separately.

These awards were about creating space to come together, celebrate shared success and strengthen connections across the Midlands housing community.

The response to the first event showed just how much this kind of platform is needed, and how powerful it can be when the sector comes together in one room.

A Night To Remember

As the first event of its kind in the Midlands dedicated entirely to housing, the 2026 awards marked a real milestone.

It was a night that celebrated collaboration, care and community. A chance to recognise outstanding achievements, share success stories and give people across the sector the recognition they deserve.

Most importantly, it set the foundations for something we hope will continue to grow bigger and better in the years ahead.
