What to expect at a People in Housing  roundtable

Yes. All People in Housing Roundtables are held in person.

We believe the best conversations happen when you get the right people in the same room, which is why our roundtables aren’t held online.

Once everyone has arrived, we’ll introduce the topic and get the conversation started.

From there, it’s an open discussion shaped by the experiences of the people around the table. There are no presentations to sit through and you won’t be expected to prepare anything beforehand, although bringing a few notes can help.

We do encourage everyone to come with something positive they’ve implemented, been involved in or seen work well. It helps keep the conversation constructive and means everyone leaves with ideas they can take back to their own organisation.

This changes depending on the topic.

We bring together people working across social housing whose roles or experience are relevant to the discussion. We keep the groups deliberately small, so everyone has the opportunity to get involved.

We want everyone attending to be part of the conversation, but this isn’t about putting anyone on the spot.

You might share something your organisation has tried, ask a question or respond to something someone else has raised. It should feel like a conversation, not a panel.

Yes. There is no charge to attend a People in Housing Roundtable.

Places are limited and registrations are reviewed before attendance is confirmed. Someone will be in touch shortly after you submit your request to join.

We want every roundtable to have the right mix of people in the room for the topic being discussed.

Submitting a registration doesn’t automatically confirm your place. We review registrations and will get in touch to let you know if your place has been confirmed.

All of our Roundtables are based in-person in Birmingham City Centre; however full venue details are sent directly to confirmed attendees ahead of the event.

You don’t need slides, a presentation or anything prepared. Come ready to get involved and hear what others around the table have to say.

We use the discussion to create a Roundtable White Paper, bringing together the main themes and insight shared in the room.

After the session, we also head out for an optional networking drink, giving everyone the chance to carry on the conversation in a more relaxed setting and get to know the other people around the table.

You’ll also have the opportunity to stay connected with the People in Housing community and continue the conversations beyond the day.
